There is an active working section which runs training classes for all levels, and competitive working events.
Midland Golden Retriever Club runs an educational seminar every year, in the past we have covered topics such as; all aspects of Golden Retriever Judges training, grooming and trimming, first aid for dogs, How to handle your stud dog, The Three E's' Ectopic Ureter, Epilepsy and Eyes. Our topic for this year is: How To Have a Healthy Dog by Catherine O'Driscoll of Canine Health Concern, to be held on Saturday 21st September 2013.
Social events run by the club have included the Contest of Champions, Pup of the Year and match meetings with other breeds in the Midlands areas.
The club has an active rescue which does a sterling job in finding new homes for Golden Retrievers when, for whatever reason, they can no longer stay in their home.
We also have a puppy register to put you in touch with reputable breeders who abide to the code of conduct set by the club. We also offer advice about puppy purchasing and what care a Golden Retriever needs.
We are very involved in Discover Dogs which is run by the Kennel Club. They run several events through the year, which is a fantastic opportunity for visitors to meet, greet and discover over 200 different breeds of dog, learn all about the distinctive personalities, traits and looks of each breed, and how to buy the perfect canine partner. Midland Golden Retriever Club co-ordinates the Golden Retriever section at Crufts.
We take an active role in the Golden Retriever Breed Council where we represent our members and collaborate with all the other member clubs on matters affecting the breed.
If you would like any further information or have any suggestions for the club please contact us using the Contact Us form.
All our events are open to Members and Non Members so we look forward to meeting you at some of our events.
