It is with great sadness that MGRC reports that Mervyn Philpott died this morning. He was a very kind and gentle man with a big sense of humour. He judged at the top level and gave a lot of support to MGRC, especially on the working side. On behalf of the club, he ran the Cranham training group and only recently stepped down from this when he moved up to Leek. Mervyn was very generous and frequently gave prizes and specials and donated to our rescue.  His wife Daphne and friend and dog partner, Joan Gill, had been on the committee of MGRC for many years.

I first met Mervyn in 1987 when he bred his first litter of puppies. I was looking for a new show dog and brought Westley Callum. This successful mating was repeated a couple of times and produced several champions. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
